One of the biggest challenges I find about being a parent of two kids is not being able to spend enough time one on one with each kid. Bodhi and I still get pockets of time where it's just the two of us when Koen is napping and we both seem to really cherish these moments together. I doesn't seem, though, that I get this time with Koen (except at 2am!). On Monday Bodhi will be going back to school and although I am already missing him like crazy (it has been a wonderful summer!), I am looking forward to those couple of hours each morning where Koen and I will be able to spend some time one-on-one.
It's a fine balance being able to give as much attention to one kid as you do to the other, and although I will probably never be able to give them the amount of attention they would like (24 hours a day), I think we're starting to find a good balance here. I just hope that as the boys get older we will always be able to continue having solo time and always remember the importance of it, not just for the boys but for Dan and I as well.
